Iconic Lake Michigan Ice Cream Shop Reopens Under New Ownership

Fans were disappointed when Sherman’s Dairy Bar closed at the end of last season, marking the end of an era for the beloved South Haven ice cream spot that had served generations.

But now, there’s reason to celebrate: Sherman’s is back.

Rebranded as Sherman’s of South Haven, the iconic stand has returned to 1601 Phoenix St., dishing out its famously large scoops in cones, bowls, and creative treats.

Mike Schimanski of New Buffalo, who also owns Oink’s Dutch Treat, is now at the helm.

“It’s an iconic ice cream shop,” Schimanski said. “People want Sherman’s ice cream and we’re going to serve it as long as it’s available.”
