The Mackinac Bridge has been closed since Monday due to dangerous ice falling from its cables and towers, according to the Mackinac Bridge Authority.
The bridge will reopen once conditions improve, but drivers are advised to avoid the area for now.

Spanning the Straits of Mackinac on Interstate 75, the bridge connects Michigan’s lower and upper peninsulas.
It was also closed for part of Monday due to falling ice. The bridge’s maintenance staff described Monday’s conditions as “the worst we’ve ever seen,” according to the Mackinac Bridge Authority.
Northern Michigan endured severe ice storms over the weekend, leading to significant ice buildup and widespread power outages, according to The Petoskey News-Review.
