Shared electric scooters and bikes have returned to Minneapolis. The city has entered into license agreements with Lime and Spin for the 2025 season, making e-scooters and e-bikes available for rent as of Monday.
In a change for 2025, these vehicles could be available year-round. A new pilot initiative allows Lime and Spin to keep their fleets operational into the winter, weather permitting. Previously, the program paused at the end of November and resumed in April.

Users can rent e-scooters and e-bikes through the respective Lime and Spin apps. Both companies offer Class 1 pedal-assist e-bikes and Class 2 e-bikes. According to city data, the shared transportation program recorded over 1.25 million trips and nearly 2.2 million miles, setting all-time highs since its inception in 2018.
The city’s Equity Distribution Areas remain a priority. At least 30% of each operator’s scooters will be distributed in north and south Minneapolis, with a maximum of 40% downtown. The remaining 30% will be stationed in other neighborhoods. Rides starting in equity zones will receive a discount.
Shared bikes and scooters can be found at the city’s mobility hubs, which have increased from 12 in 2019 to 60 locations this year. These hubs are located along transit lines, including light rail, bus rapid transit, regular bus service, and Metro Transit’s micro service in north Minneapolis.
